Autel Remote Expert RP Box is a professional interface device for workshops and diagnostic specialists who want to operate as service providers within the Autel Remote Expert network.

Remote Expert is Autel's cloud-based remote service platform, allowing an approved expert to connect over the Internet to a vehicle located at another workshop and perform services such as control module programming, coding, and advanced diagnostics.

The RP Box functions as the Expert-side connection device within the Autel Remote Expert system. It enables communication between the MaxiFlash VCI / VCMI and the Autel, OE, or compatible third-party diagnostic and programming equipment used by the Expert.

How Remote Expert works

The Remote Expert system connects two parties:

Technician

  • Workshop or technician physically located with the vehicle
  • Creates a Remote Expert service request using a compatible Autel diagnostic system
  • Connects the vehicle through a MaxiFlash VCI / VCMI
  • Maintains a stable Internet and Ethernet connection throughout programming

Expert

  • Approved Remote Expert specialist
  • Views available service requests through the Remote Expert platform
  • Provides a quotation for the requested job
  • Establishes a remote connection after the job is accepted
  • Uses the required OE, Autel, or compatible third-party programming equipment
  • Performs the agreed programming, coding, or diagnostic service remotely

The RP Box is part of the Expert-side equipment.

Becoming a Remote Expert

Purchasing an RP Box does not automatically activate Remote Expert privileges.

Expert access is applied for directly through Autel's Remote Expert system:

  • Create an Autel / Remote Expert user account
  • Submit an Expert Certification application
  • Create a Service Provider business account where required
  • Enter the required company and service provider information
  • Submit the application to Autel for approval
  • Pair the required MaxiFlash VCI / VCMI with the Remote Expert account
  • Expert functionality can be used after approval

Approval is handled directly by Autel. The reseller does not approve or activate Remote Expert Expert accounts.

Autel Remote Expert requires equipment including:

  • Autel Remote Expert RP Box / Expert Box
  • MaxiFlash VCI or MaxiFlash VCMI
  • Latest VCI / VCMI firmware
  • Ethernet cable
  • 12 V power supply
  • OBD cable
  • Compatible Autel, OE, or third-party diagnostic/programming equipment
  • Stable Internet connection
  • Approved Remote Expert account

Required OE software and manufacturer subscriptions are not included with the RP Box.

Remote Expert workflow

A typical Remote Expert job follows this process:

  • Technician submits a Remote Expert service request
  • Expert views the request in the Order Center
  • Expert accepts the job and provides a quotation
  • Customer accepts the quotation
  • Remote Expert connection is established
  • Expert selects the required server connection
  • Expert performs the programming or diagnostic procedure
  • Remote connection is safely disconnected after completion
  • The service is marked as completed in the Remote Expert system

Please note

  • RP Box is intended for use by the Remote Expert service provider / Expert.
  • Purchasing the RP Box does not automatically guarantee Remote Expert Expert approval.
  • Expert Certification and Service Provider approvals are processed directly by Autel.
  • The reseller cannot grant Remote Expert Expert approval.
  • OE software, manufacturer accounts, and OE subscriptions must be obtained separately.
  • MaxiFlash VCI / VCMI firmware must be updated to the latest version before Remote Expert use.
  • Control module programming requires a highly stable network connection.
  • A suitable battery support unit / maintainer should be connected to the vehicle during programming.
  • Module programming always involves a risk of programming failure or module damage if vehicle voltage or the network connection is interrupted.
